U.S. Supreme Court rules in favor of same sex marriage

After yesterday’s decision that put civil rights back a generation, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of same sex marriage in two dynamic decisions:

1.  Striking down the “Defense of Marriage Act” (DOMA), now same gender couples will enjoy Federal benefits historically denied them.
2.  Refused to hear the case of Proposition 8 in California – which had put a halt to same sex marriages.  This will soon make it possible, again, to have same sex marriages in California as in twelve other states, including Washington, and the District of Columbia.
